Multitone attends the Safety & Health Expo ‘09 at the NEC (12 – 14 May)

Multitone will be exhibiting EkoTek, the award winning lone worker solution at the Safety & Health Expo ‘09, which takes place at the NEC on 12 – 14 May 2009.

With the UK’s increasing legislation surrounding health and safety at work, Multitone developed EkoTek as a cost-effective and easy-to-use solution for staff protection.

What is EkoTek?
EkoTek is a staff protection system, which provides individuals with a simple way of sending a call for help. This alert is sent to a nominated person or team, with the user’s identity and location, so it can be acted upon quickly and efficiently.

How and where is EkoTek used?
Since its launch in 2007, EkoTek has been used for a range of industries and purposes internationally, including:
 an alerting device for staff who work alone in power stations;
 a patient wander alarm in psychiatric hospitals;
 a calling system for use in schools where teachers need assistance; and
 a staff protection alarm for a dog’s home

What are the key benefits of EkoTek?
 Fast and reliable alerting with accurate location reporting
 Total site coverage
 Easy to install – no wires
 Cost effective and easy to use
 Quick and easy to deploy
 Integrates with other alarm and communication systems
 Full personal security
 Reduced associated business risk
 Addresses safety and communication concerns

What is a typical EkoTek system made up of?
 key fobs and pager-style devices for user alerting;
 a management terminal which processes and responds to alerts (how the system responds is fully programmable and may involve forwarding the alert to a security team, making a call to emergency services, etc); and
 a number of repeaters placed throughout the site to communicate between the user and the main management terminal

Is EkoTek suitable for small or large sites?
EkoTek can be as small or as large as the site requires and can easily grow to accommodate new users or buildings by increasing the number of repeaters for effective coverage. In addition to the internal repeaters, solar powered outdoor units are also available giving site-wide coverage across a number of buildings.

Why include location information in an alert?
As well as sending alerts when an alarm is triggered, EkoTek also shows the user’s location. This can be critical on large or complex sites, or when working in reduced visibility, such as at night.
