Collaboration between Volkswagen Sachsen GmbH and Multitone Elektronik International GmbH for the Planning and Implementation of an EkoSecure System for Time-Critical Message Transmission at the Zwickau Plant

For over a century, Saxony has been at the forefront of automobile manufacturing. Volkswagen Sachsen GmbH, with its three state-of-the-art facilities, including the Zwickau vehicle plant, the Chemnitz engine plant, and the Transparent Factory in Dresden, is responsible for producing top models from three Group brands and innovative engines. Employing more than 13,000 people, Volkswagen Sachsen stands as the largest private employer in the Free State.

The initial deployment of the Multitone call system at the Zwickau factory dates back to 2008. Now, with the introduction of the newly developed EkoSecure system, the Zwickau plant has significantly improved its ability to relay time-critical fault messages within a matter of seconds to the maintenance and operating staff's compact, handheld end devices, known as messengers. These fault messages are seamlessly transmitted through a LAN interface to the Multitone i-Message alarm server, which promptly relays them to the EkoSecure system without any delay.

Across a total of four halls and various designated basement areas, a self-sustained radio network, established by Multitone, ensures continuous reception of call signals. In specific areas where safety is paramount, Multitone messengers with ATEX protection are deployed. The system boasts a redundant structure, providing the flexibility to expand seamlessly into additional areas as required.
